Overview
This KSA is about teamwork and collaboration between other members of a common group. Part of leadership and teamwork is guiding and encouraging other members to achieve a common goal. I have prior leadership experience as a captain of my high school dance team. As a senior member of the Towson University Dance Team, I have acquired leadership skills that allow me to motivate other people. A huge part of effective leadership is giving respect in order to gain respect. As a senior, I lead younger members in a way in which they respect me but also can confide in me.

It takes a team
This video, which was made when I was only a freshman, is a great representation of how TU Dance Team operates. At this point, I was still learning and growing through the leadership of older members. Now, I am one of the members whom the freshmen and sophomores come to for guidance. We focus on dancing for the team and not just for ourselves. I chose this KSA, specifically, because I consider it to be extremely important for my personal and professional growth. Being a member of this team is one of my biggest accomplishments because it takes physical, mental and emotional strength. Coach Tom Cascella, and the other members, have had an immense impact on my life and have taught me to have thick skin and a strong mind. I think the leadership and teamwork skills that I have acquired on this team will translate into my future career. I have learned that cooperation is necessary and leadership is about respecting those who you are leading. In my future career, I will apply what I have learned on this team by mentoring and collaborating with others to achieve common goals.
