KSA #2: Make articulate, persuasive and influential oral presentations [Communication]
Overview
I chose this KSA because I have been told by professor and colleagues that it is one of my strengths. Upon attending Towson, I was introverted and this reflected in my presentation skills. I have grown as an individual since then and become more confident in my public speaking. I credit a lot of this to the Business Cornerstone (BUSX301) course at Towson. Two of my previous professors nominated me to compete in The Associate, a student competition at Towson that entails presenting in front of real executives. I consider this one of my biggest accomplishments since entering college.
Video of myself presenting in front of my BUSX301 class
This is a video of me presenting to my professor and class last year in the Business Cornerstone course. This was a solo presentation in which I had to sell myself and explain how I am unique from others. I felt very confident and prepared before presenting. I got great feedback from my professor and used this video to improve upon my public speaking skills. I think companies can benefit from graduates with presentation skills because it takes preparation, confidence, and articulation. Formal and informal presentations take place in many corporations and I plan on using my skills in real world environments.
